Description

Cape Henry Collegiate is seeking an Upper School Math teacher to join a highly collaborative and effective team. This full-time role involves teaching five sections of math across grades 9 through 12 as well as being an advisor and club leader. We are searching for a dynamic and forward-thinking teacher who can lead by example and leverage new learning spaces and technology to create memorable deep learning experiences. Ideal candidates may have the ability to teach other related subjects such as computer science, data science, or STEAM-related courses.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging math lessons.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment, encouraging student exploration in math and computer science.
  • Stay current with advancements in mathematics education, as well as emerging technologies and pedagogical approaches.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary concepts and promote cross-curricular connections.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
  • Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, such as sports, clubs, competitions, or coaching, with a particular emphasis on robotics, engineering, or computer science if applicable.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Previous experience or ability to teach multiple upper school math subjects (Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalc, Geometry, Calculus).
  • A passion for working with students in all levels of learning!
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to students of varying skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools.

Hiring Process

Cape Henry Collegiate welcomes resumes and letters of interest at all times.

For a posted opening, qualified candidates will be granted a preliminary phone or video conference interview. Finalists generally are invited for a full-day interview.

In most scenarios, teaching candidates will be matched with a host teacher, who will provide helpful guidance before and during the visit. Candidates are interviewed by teachers, administrators, and in some instances students. Each teaching candidate delivers a sample lesson and has the opportunity to observe a class.
