The Cape Henry Collegiate (CHC) Athletic Program is a vibrant and successful department in an Independent College Preparatory School setting. The Athletic Trainer is an important member of the CHC Community. We seek a trainer who want to lead, mentor, and teach skill development, providing an exemplary experience in support of our school mission and core values.

Position duties (include, but are not limited to):

 

Prevention, evaluation, documentation, education, immediate care, referrals, coordination of care of athletic injuries. Communication with coaches, athletes, and their parents in all areas of the prevention and management of injury is expected. This position administers athletic training services for the Middle & Upper School athletic community. These services include, but are not limited to, school screenings, injury prevention programs, athletic consults, injury assessment, and treatment and case management of injured athletes undergoing rehabilitation. This position regularly attends practices and games.

Essential Functions

* Evaluates injuries and develops treatment and exercise plans within the scope of practice. Re-evaluates treatment plans, as needed, to ensure programs are current and relevant.

*Implements individualized therapeutic interventions, and monitors responses to therapy to ensure athlete safety. Reports progress and medical changes to referring physician.

* Educates clients, families, and coaches regarding injuries, risk factor modification, and exercise programs.

*Conducts injury screening clinics, educational programs, and workshops to promote safety and injury prevention.

* Documents athlete treatment plans per professional and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited university athletic training program.

* Possess Athletic Trainer licensure, certification or registration.

* Current BOC certification.

* Emergency Cardiac Care certification: First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.

* Requires the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare

providers. Must have strong interpersonal communications and human relation skills.

* 2-3 years of experience is recommended

Hiring Process

Cape Henry Collegiate welcomes resumes and letters of interest at all times.

For a posted opening, qualified candidates will be granted a preliminary phone or video conference interview. Finalists generally are invited for a full-day interview.

In most scenarios, teaching candidates will be matched with a host teacher, who will provide helpful guidance before and during the visit. Candidates are interviewed by teachers, administrators, and in some instances students. Each teaching candidate delivers a sample lesson and has the opportunity to observe a class.
